The perfect game

During our stay at the Coast of Amalfi we were walking along the beach when I spotted a bunch of poker playing chefs.  This was supposed to be a poker free vaccation, but this game looked to good to pass by. It looked like there was a lot of money on the table for a game with restaurant employees, which proves how expensive it is in this region.  Anyway I walked up and I felt the itch.  You all know it ;)  They were playing texas €5-5 and money was flying.I checked and saw that I had about €800 on me and asked if I could sit in.  I could and after applying for permission at the supreme court for an hour of gaming.

It was a great game and although their english was very limited we managed to chat a bit and the conversation was friendly and fun. When my wife returned I had a little more than €4k in front of me and left the game happy. The chefs welcomed the action I gave and welcomed me back :D  Not bad to get the vaccation payed for in an hour ;)

So if you pass Ristorante L’incanto in Positano, don’t forget to pack your bankroll ;)

High Stakes Poker season 6

This season of High Stakes Poker is over.  In the last episode of the season we got to see more action and higher blinds than ever before.

Want to give you my thoughts on some of my favourite moments of this season:

Best fold Phil Galfond showed us not once, but twice, that he can fold a big hand if the gutfeeling says so.

Best call Lex V showed the world that he has the stones to call a $60k bet from the godfather of poker with only bottom pair on a dangerous board. And he does it although I’m sure it hurts him a lot more than it does Doyle.

Best bluff You have to love Durrr for his heart. In the hand vs Phil Ivey, when Phil Laak and Antonio Esfandiari almost bully him into raising, he shoots blanks on all streets, although he is beeing stared down by the most intense eyes in the poker world

Best change Less prop bets

Worst change I admit I was wrong. I too missed AJ Benza. Kara, Daniel and the obvious PS advertising added nothing of value to the show.

Most interesting hand Daniel has a flush, Doyle has a set and David B has a lower flush, but yet he manages to bet Daniel off his hand and get Doyle to call.

Best analysis If DB did the same analysis when the hand was played as he did when talking to Kara about the hand and he didn’t really raise for value cause he thought he had the best hand, it was a very good and correct one.

Tightaste player Was sure Phil Laak would take this titel down after last years donk play with AA, but he had no chance vs Mike The Mouth. It seemed like he played with his life on the table and even folded KQs in the SB to a standard raise.  Really Mike, cmon!?!

Best overall performance Durrr is Durrr. He might not do everything right, but at the end of the day he does manage to put everybody else out of their comfort zone and make dodos.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten a lot of interestign hands and situations so feel free to comment :)

Poker food

I suppose it’s common knowledge that poker players are not very careful with what they eat.  many poker players are overweight and often when you see players during the dinner break of a tournament they are stuffing themselves with fat and oily “food”. After the break they obviously fall into a food coma and are tired and make bad decisions.  Worst are probably cash game players in Vegas who shove quesedillas, cheese fingers och fries down their throats with greasy fingers.  The Italians have found a solution to the problem!  Pokerplayers are degenerates who like anything that says poker, therefor they have started selling this dinner there.  Do you think it will help?  ;)

First day back

Today I was back at work, playing poker that is. The month and home coming started out well and I almost won enough to pay off my gelato-bill from Italy. Oh, that’s not much you’re probably thinking right now, but then you are underestimating how much ice cream I can eat in 11 days ;)

An ice cream from the worlds best gelateria

On a side note fellow Swede Jimmy Östensson is doing well in Paris WPT at the moment, GO GO GO! Follow the action here!
