Nordic Masters tomorrow

nm

Right now I’m on my way to Stockholm.  Tomorrow I’m playing the Nordic Masters of Poker at Casino Cosmopol, backed up by PokerTime of course =)  The tournament has a buy in of 25000 SEK (about $3125).  I will of course keep you updated on how it’s going!

PokerTimes easterbunny left an egg for Silow

Oskar Silow, who has been working with and representing PokerTime in a number of international events in the past, has now gained their full confidence and signed a sponsorship deal with the site.

- “It’s huge, a milestone in my career as a pokerplayer” says Silow, who you will now spot more frequently on the tournament circuit.

Silow’s past results include a 14th place finish in the WSOP main event, runner up in Malmö Open, and a final table in Master Classics of Poker in Amsterdam, and he is confident he will add to the list in 2009.

James Grant at PokerTime is proud of the sponsorship deal with Silow. “It’s a unique oppurtunity for us and we are all very happy to have Silow onboard representing us”, he says.

Coincistently with signing the contract, Silow is launching his new website oskarsilow.com where you can follow his adventures in poker tournaments across the globe.  He will also write articles and answer poker related questions on the website.

Chatting at the tables

A lot of players use the chat function when playing online poker, but should they?  Consider the pros and cons of using the chat before turning it on.  Some obvious cons are that it takes attention away from the action at the tables and might distract you.  A pro is that you can use the chat function to put an opponent on tilt or to see if somebody is already on tilt.  The best pro though is that you can make friends.

If you decide to use the chat function to put an opponent on tilt make sure that you consider that there is another person on the other side of the table and not just a virtual opponent.  It’s a real game with real money against real people, it’s not a computer game.

I usually chat at the tables, most of the time it’s friendly talk, but every know and then you slip up and curse at an opponent.  It’s against my personality and my poker education, but still it happens.

You can also use the chat to give the other player/s at your table/s information.  For example if you have to use the bathroom or grab a sandwich in the kitchen, it helps if you tell your opponents that you will be right back so that the table don’t break or your opponent leaves.

My best recommendation is still that you turn off the chat function until you don’t have any problem following all the action at the table.

Bounty tournament

Sorry guys!  I know it’s a tough challenge and this week nobody was able to take me down ;)  30 players played in the tournament and I managed to reach HU with about even stacks.  I tried to keep pots small and waited for my opponent to make mistakes.  Fortunately for me he did and pushed with a straightdraw when I already had a full house :)

I hope you try again  and have better luck next time =)
